Khaptad National Park
Khaptad National Park is a high plateau of flower-filled meadows, conifer forest, streams and sacred sites spread across the meeting point of Bajura, Bajhang, Achham and Doti. Its open patans and quiet trails feel very different from Nepal's better-known trekking regions.
Khaptad combines nature and spirituality in one remote landscape. The park protects broad alpine-style grasslands, forest and wildlife, while Khaptad Baba Ashram, Tribeni and Sahashra Linga give the journey deep religious significance.
Best time to visit: March to May and October to November are the classic visiting seasons. Summer is rainy and lush; winter can bring snow and much colder conditions.
Getting there: Access usually combines a flight or long road journey to Far West Nepal, followed by road travel toward gateways in Doti, Bajhang, Bajura or Achham and then a walk into the park. Routes vary, so confirm the current roadhead before departure.
Recommended stay: 3–5 days in and around the park, plus travel time to and from the roadhead.
Carry warm and waterproof layers even outside winter.
Confirm current park entry fees and access routes before leaving the Terai.
Take enough cash, food contingency and basic medical supplies for remote sections.
