When to go for clear skies, comfortable weather and the right trekking window.
Nepal has four main seasons. Autumn (October–November) is the classic trekking season — clear skies, stable weather and excellent mountain views after the monsoon clears the air.
Spring (March–May) is the second high season — warmer, with rhododendrons in bloom on the lower trails, though some haze can build later in the season.
Winter (December–February) is cold but quiet and often very clear at lower elevations; high passes may be snowbound. Summer/monsoon (June–September) brings rain, leeches and cloud to most of Nepal — but it's the ideal window for the rain-shadow regions of Upper Mustang and Dolpa.
Match your season to your goals: trekking favors autumn and spring; wildlife viewing in Chitwan is best October–March; Lumbini pilgrimage is pleasant in winter; and Mustang shines in the monsoon months when the rest of the country is wet.
