Scenic but weather-dependent — how to fly within Nepal.
Domestic flights are the fastest way to reach trekking trailheads like Lukla and Jomsom, and to cross the country to Pokhara, Bharatpur and Bhairahawa. The views from the air can be spectacular.
All mountain flights are weather-dependent. Morning departures have the best chance of going; cancellations and multi-day delays are common in monsoon and winter fog. Keep buffer days and reconfirm your flight.
Book through reputable airlines and, for trekking flights, through a registered agency that can help rebook. Weigh limits on small aircraft are strict — pack light and store excess in Kathmandu.
For safety, choose established domestic carriers and be aware that mountain airstrips (Lukla in particular) are demanding. Travel insurance that covers flight delays and helicopter evacuation is strongly recommended.
