Kathmandu and Pokhara are two of Nepal's most common travel bases, but the journey between them can take a meaningful part of a travel day. Plan the transfer as an itinerary component rather than a small gap between activities.
Road options include tourist buses, local buses and private vehicles. Journey time varies with traffic, road works, weather and stops, so do not build a tight evening connection around a best-case estimate.
Domestic flights are much faster in the air but can be affected by weather and operational delays. If a flight is important to a larger connection, keep a buffer and avoid relying on the last possible service.
A private vehicle offers more flexibility for stops and departure timing but costs more than shared transport. For groups, the difference can be easier to justify.
