Pokhara to Chitwan — Transport Guide

A practical guide to traveling between Pokhara and Chitwan by road, with timing, comfort and connection considerations.

Pokhara and Chitwan are often combined in the same Nepal itinerary because they offer very different experiences: Himalayan scenery in Pokhara and lowland wildlife around Chitwan.

Most travelers move between them by road using tourist buses, local buses or private vehicles. The journey can vary with traffic, road condition and weather, so do not assume a fixed arrival time.

A private vehicle gives you more control over stops and departure time, while shared tourist transport is generally simpler for budget-focused travelers. Compare the full door-to-door journey rather than only the ticket price.

Confirm where your Chitwan accommodation expects you to arrive. Resorts and lodges may be located away from the main bus arrival points and can sometimes arrange pickups.

Keep your next activity flexible on arrival day. A slower evening and an early wildlife activity the following morning is usually more realistic than trying to schedule a full program immediately after the transfer.
