Langtang Valley
The most accessible high-Himalayan trek from Kathmandu — a gentle climb up the Langtang Valley through Tamang villages to Kyanjin Gompa, with a side climb to Kyanjin Ri for a panorama of Langtang Lirung. Culturally rich and far less crowded than the big names.
Difficulty: Moderate. Typical duration: 7–9 days. Best season: Spring (Mar–May), Autumn (Oct–Nov).
Reaches ~4,773m at Kyanjin Ri. The valley ascent is gradual; an acclimatization/rest day at Kyanjin is recommended before the climb.
Moderate fitness — daily 5–6 hour walks on a steady valley trail.
Langtang National Park entry + agency-issued TIMS; Nepal Tourism Board lists the Langtang trek among routes requiring a licensed trekking guide
Acclimatize at Kyanjin before climbing Kyanjin Ri. The access road to Syabrubesi can be rough and landslide-prone in monsoon — travel in daylight. Support community teahouses; the valley is still recovering from 2015.
Langtang is one of the more affordable Himalayan treks thanks to short road access from Kathmandu. Main costs are permits, the bus to Syabrubesi, teahouse food and lodging, and a guide/porter if hired. Treat figures as guidance only.
