Nepal Itinerary — 7 Days

A realistic one-week Nepal itinerary for a first trip, combining Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara without rushing.

With seven days in Nepal, focus on two areas rather than trying to cross the whole country. A practical first-trip structure is Kathmandu Valley plus Pokhara, with buffer time for road or flight delays.

Days 1–2: base yourself in Kathmandu and explore a mix of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and one of the neighboring heritage cities such as Patan or Bhaktapur. Do not try to fit every monument into one day.

Day 3: travel to Pokhara. A flight is faster but weather-dependent; road travel takes much longer than the map suggests, so treat the transfer as a substantial part of the day.

Days 4–5: use Pokhara for Phewa Lake, the World Peace Pagoda, Sarangkot or another viewpoint, local food and a relaxed Lakeside evening. If you prefer activity, substitute one day with a short hike or another outdoor experience.

Day 6: return to Kathmandu and keep the evening flexible. Day 7 is best left light for final sightseeing, shopping or your international departure. If your international flight is important, avoid returning from a remote mountain area on the same day.
