Annapurna Circuit

One of the world's great treks — a circuit right around the Annapurna massif, crossing from lush subtropical valleys through rhododendron forest and Tibetan-influenced high desert over the Thorong La, then descending into the Kali Gandaki — the world's deepest valley.

Difficulty: Challenging. Typical duration: 12–15 days. Best season: Spring (Mar–May), Autumn (Oct–Nov).

The Thorong La at 5,416m is the high point. Proper acclimatization (often at Manang) and an early-morning pass crossing in good weather are essential.

Strong fitness — long days and a high pass crossing at 5,416m.

Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP) entry + agency-issued TIMS; Nepal Tourism Board lists the Annapurna Circuit among routes requiring a licensed trekking guide

The Thorong La is serious — cross early in the day, only in clear weather, and never with altitude symptoms. Acclimatize fully in Manang. Snow can close the pass for days; carry buffer days and insurance covering helicopter evacuation.

Costs depend on whether you end in Jomsom (fly out) or trek all the way to Pokhara, guide/porter use, and season. Road extensions have shortened some sections; jeeps can skip them. Treat any figure as guidance, not a fixed price.
