Manaslu Circuit
A restricted-area circuit around the eighth-highest mountain on earth — a quieter, more culturally Tibetan alternative to the Annapurna Circuit, crossing the Larkya La into the Annapurna region. Requires a guide and a special permit, keeping crowds low.
Difficulty: Strenuous. Typical duration: 14–16 days. Best season: Spring (Mar–May), Autumn (Oct–Nov).
Crosses the Larkya La at 5,106m. Acclimatization days at Samagaon and good weather for the pass are essential.
Strong fitness — long days, a high pass, and a restricted-area route requiring a guide.

The Larkya La is a serious high pass — cross early in good weather only. A guide is legally required. Weather and route conditions can change quickly; carry buffer days and insurance covering helicopter evacuation. Teahouse standards are more basic than on the main circuits.
Manaslu costs more than Annapurna/Everest teahouse treks because the restricted-area permit requires a group (guide mandatory) and a minimum group size. Main costs are the permit, guide/porter, transport to Soti Khola, and teahouse food/lodging. Treat figures as guidance only.
